Pure Perspective Therapy Confidentiality Agreement

Welcome to Pure Perspective Therapy. Our commitment to your well-being and mental health is matched by our dedication to maintaining your privacy and confidentiality. This document outlines our confidentiality practices, following the ethical framework provided by the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), and explains the circumstances under which your information may be disclosed.

1. Confidentiality Commitment

Your therapy sessions, including the content of your discussions, any documents or notes taken, and your personal information, are treated with the utmost respect for your privacy. This information is safeguarded and is only accessible to your therapist and administrative staff, as necessary.

2. Use of Personal Information and Financial Transactions

Personal information collected during the course of therapy, including your name, contact details, and other sensitive information, is used solely for the purpose of providing you with the best possible care. This encompasses not only the therapeutic services but also administrative and billing purposes to ensure a seamless and efficient experience.

Important Notice Regarding Financial Transactions and Bank Statements: Please be aware that if you make payments via bank transfer, card, or other banking methods to Pure Perspective Therapy, your bank statement may display ‘Pure Perspective Therapy’ alongside your name. This is a standard banking practice that helps to identify transactions. We understand the importance of discretion and privacy; therefore, if you have concerns about this disclosure or prefer a more anonymised method of payment, please discuss alternative payment arrangements with us. We are committed to finding a solution that maintains your comfort and confidentiality.

3. Limits of Confidentiality

While we strive to maintain confidentiality, there are certain circumstances under which we may be legally obligated or ethically compelled to disclose information without your consent:

  • Risk to Self or Others: If there is a concern that you are at serious risk of harming yourself or someone else, we may need to inform relevant authorities or individuals to prevent harm.
  • Abuse or Harm to Vulnerable Individuals: If there is evidence or reasonable suspicion of abuse or harm to a child, elderly person, or any vulnerable individual, we are required by law to report this to the appropriate agencies.
  • Legal Requirements: If your records are requested by court order or subpoena, we may be compelled to comply with these legal requests.

4. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Be informed about how your information is used and stored.
  • Request access to the records held about you, subject to certain limitations as per the law.
  • Discuss any concerns or preferences you have regarding confidentiality and privacy.

5. Agreement

By engaging in therapy with Pure Perspective Therapy, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to the terms of this confidentiality agreement. We encourage you to discuss any questions or concerns you may have about this policy with your therapist.
